Yamaha and Line 6 have officially announced to have come to an agreement for Yamaha to acquire Line 6.

Line 6 are best known for their guitar products for audio professionals including the POD multi-effects processors, modelling guitars, guitar amplifiers, wireless microphone and instrument systems, speakers and iOS interfaces.

Yamaha will operate Line 6 as a wholly owned subsidiary and will acquire all of the capital stock of Line 6 owned by the founders, venture funds and employees. The transaction of Line 6 to Yamaha is expected to be completed in January 2014. There has been no word so far as to what the transaction will mean for current product owners in terms like software, hardware and firmware support.
