If you are looking for a serious library of concert percussion instruments, then Sample Logic might soon have what you need. In a few days Sample Logic will release IMPAKT their latest Sample Library with over 850 morphed concert percussion instruments and multis.

The library, recorded on the Scoring Stage at Skywalker Sound, has a collection of traditional instruments but also morphed, twisted and transfigured instruments ranging from marimbas and xylophones, chimes and bells, timpani, gongs, bass drums, cymbals plus a variety of world percussion instruments.

The 20 GB large library will soon be available as a Kontakt Player 5 instrument in both 32 and 64-bit for Mac OS and Windows 7 or 8. By what I have heard from the examples on Sample Logic’s website the library sounds very good indeed and can be very useful if you write scores for film, video or games. You still have three more days to pre-order with a $100 discount for $299 US.
