Acon Digital Restoration Suite comprises of four restoration and noise reduction plug-ins called DeNoise, DeHum, DeClick and DeClip. Version 1.2.0 of the suite introduces AAX compatibility for Pro Tools 11.
DeNoise is designed to reduce stationary noise like broadband noise, hiss, wind noise, buzz and camera noise. The plug-in tries to preserve as much of the original signal as possible during the noise reduction process. According to Acon Digital, DeNoise can reduce or in many cases completely remove noise in a very transparent manner without loss of transients, attacks or “air” in the recording.
DeHum removes hum and buzz that is typically introduced by ground problems of electrical equipment, but also other noise sources that have a distinct tonal quality like electrical motor noise.
DeClick is designed to remove spike type of noise such as clicks and crackle. These distortions are frequently found on LP and 78 RPM records, but also occur in digital recordings due to drop-outs, distorted data packets or bad clock signals.
DeClip restores audio recordings that have been distorted by analog or digital clipping.
Acon Digital Restoration Suite is available in 32 and 64 bit versions, as VST or AAX for both Windows and OS X or as AU plug-ins for OS X. More information can be found on Acon Digital’s website.
