Here’s one I haven’t seen before. LSR Audio has a great looking FET compressor plugin modelled after the Classic analog API 525 compressor. The best part (for me and all other Pro Tools 11 users) is that next to AU, VST and RTAS the plugin is also available in AAX 64-bit for both Mac OS X and Windows.

According to LSR Audio the VLB525 emulates all non-linear electronic hardware circuitry from the original 70’s hardware, like discrete opamps, FET transistors and audio transformers. These add greatly to the sound of the plugin.

I haven’t listened to it yet, so can’t actually comment on the way it sounds but I read some good things about it. I’ll try to get my hands on a demo and might do a review on it. VLB525 is available as an online download for $159 US. Licenses can be placed on a USB drive so you can take your license with you to other locations. More info can be found on LSR Audio’s website.
